Know the Unknowable?

For one to assume that he knows the unknowable in religion is the greatest ignorance and the grossest presumption and arrogance. True indeed is the statement, “Wisdom is knowing when you cannot be wise” (Paul Engle). Some have erroneously concluded that Revelation precludes mysteries. To us finite human beings, the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, absolutely perfect God revealed in the Bible, being infinite, of necessity must be incomprehensible in many aspects of His nature and operations.

The Bible and Ethnology

Ethnology is “a science that deals with the division of human being into races and their origins, distribution, relations, and characteristics” (m-w.com). The Bible and Paleontology

Paleontology is “the science that deals with the fossils of animals and plants that lived very long ago especially in the time of dinosaurs” (m-w.com). While the Bible contains no specific references to “the fossils of animals and plants,” it does mention several extinct animals that are now known only by their fossil remains, such as what modern scientists call dinosaurs.
